Email at work is a huge subject. One of my friends today told me that her company began blocking access to their employee's personal email accounts at work. I totally understand her frustration. I would be angrier than Herbie being asked to work with Ms. Lohan again in Herbie Fully Reloaded 2. But in the picture, I would just have to accept that as a condition of my employment. It is not unusual for companies large and small to limit access to outside personal email accounts. Again it is the employer's resources that are being used. Their computer. Their Internet access. From a productivity standpoint, I disagree with the efficacy of eliminating such access, I cannot dictate policies for all organizations. So if you are employee, you're just going to have to suck it up or skillfully campaign for its revival If you are a company, then you should rethink the signal that you are sending to employees. This is 2007 not 1977. Everyone expects to remain in touch with the outside world. People will always find a way to stay in touch.
